Lost my family!

All of you were so helpful to me in the past that I had to write again!

My grandfather, Pellegrino Disarno was born in 1883 in Monteforte, Italy. I only know this as I found his Draft Registration card on line and all of the information matches.

He married Mary Farina and they proceeded to have 10 children, the youngest having been born in 1931 in Brooklyn, NY (my mother Pauline).

One would think with all of those family members that I could find them in a census somewhere! They seem to have disappeared OR never existed! I cant find on a ship manifest either.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

In Italian, there is no such name as "Disarno". On the other hand, "Di Sarno" is somewhat common with 524 listings in the Italian telephone directory.
So, as a start, I would suggest you search for Di Sarno, not Disarno. You might also try De Sarno.

Where did they live in the US?

Sorry, I see Brooklyn... Do you know the names of any other children in the family?

My mother was Pauline, born in 1931 and she is the youngest, so there was
Andrew,Michael, Victor, Marie, Elena, Caroline, Angelina, Albert. They were all born in NY.

So I need to know how you all come up with this info? Is it years of experience? How do you know what to search for and where? Are there other websites I need to look at besides Ancestry? I find this a little challenging!

We are having a small cousin get together on Saturday and wanted to find some information to bring with me and this will work!

All of the records except the petition and marriages are on ancestry. com
Since you couldn't locate your family using the correct last name, I tried searching in probable locations (NY county) with only first names and approximate birth dates.
Ancestry is great for locating family.
County and State agencies are next steps for actual vital records.
