Guerino Dascenzo, Micheline D'AMico

Post by azreala »

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for any information regarding my GGF Guerino Dascnezo b 1887 d1957 Ohio. Per the is 1930 census records he came over in 1906. I was also able to find his WWII Draft card which says he was born in Castell Corotana, but searches for the city have brought up nothing which make me think the information is invalid.

I'm also looking for any information on my GGM Micheline D'Amico Dascenzo's (b1893 Castel di Sangro d 1969 Ohio) parents Lugi D'Amico and Filomena (?).

Thanks!

Maybe it was Castel Castagna - Teramo Province - Abruzzo region...

VJ- Thanks for the WWI Draft Card. The only thing I was able to locate for Guerino was the Draft card and 1930s census, via ancestry.com. I checked archives and ellis island, but nothing of value came up. There was a Gicanto Dascenzo that came up but it said his final destination was Canada, so I don't think that's the same person. I was able to find what I think is Micheline, June 28, 1911 Prinzess Irene she was #20 on the list.

I don't think the original spelling was D'Ascenzo, but I saw that too on the census record. I have requested their ML from Ohio so hopefully the correct spelling will be on that.

Pink, Thanks! I will look into that, since it is in the same region as my GGM I think its a better shot then Cortona which is what I first thought.

Having no luck with his ship manifest - it must really be badly written or mistranscribed
From Laura's 1920 census find - immig abt 1904, 17 years old.
Did either of his parents come to the US?
Thanks

Interesting that he has 'PA' on the 1920 and 'AL' on the 1930 census. I'm trying to find out if he was nautralized. Guess I will have to wait for NARA and UCIS

So I think I have his BC.

Slight discrepancy in the first name Orino not Guerino.

Thoughts?

Am I going to have major issues applying for citizenship because of this? Any advice on this would be great!

WOW!
Great job

404= arrival information (verification check)
At times, Verification Clerks could not be sure the record found really did relate to the person who claimed that arrival record on their naturalization application. If there were enough significant differences, the clerk could not certify the arrival record. Minor differences were routine--ages one or two years off, hight off by a few inches, or Americanized names (Jacob for Yankel, for example). But many years difference in age/date of birth, differing eye color, or place of birth, prohibited certification without further explanation. In those cases, the clerk issued a record (Form 505, or 404), but issued no Certificate of Arrival. Hence the frequent annotation "No C/A"
9X6758 (or 6738) = INS Naturalization Offices: Cincinnati Ohio for Southeast IN, KY, Southern OH, Western WV

5/20/42 = notation date 20 May 1942
