Looking for a good wine
I dont mean expensive though. And whats good to me might not be good to others. I generally like Lambrusco and use it in my cooking too. But for drinking I would like something sweeter. I cant stand the wines that are tart, bitter or rotten tasting and many are like that. Anyone care to share with me what wine they like? Keep it cheap people

I like a good Riesling or Gewurztraminer. They aren't usually very $$$ and they are on the sweeter side. I don't like bitter white wine and these 2 are very good. Spumantes are too sweet.

Oh neat. I just took a quick peek. Maybe I can find one from a town where my family is from.

Try Saracco Moscato di Asti, it is reasonably priced.

A rather nice (sweet/dessert) wine is Lacryma Christi... a white (golden) wine. It is easily available in the USA (http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/lacryma+christi) but it is too sweet for many.
If you like Lambrusco you should like 'prosecco' too.

If you think education is expensive - try ignorance!

Re: Looking for a good wine
wines vary from year to year and from area to area. When wines are grown during a drought year they are poor tasting while the same wine grown the following year could be delicious so if you want a good wine you have to know something about the year it was produced. This year my wife and I found an excellent everyday dinner wine with a 2007 label reasonable, produced in Washington State. When the wine supply runs out its back to the drawing boards. =Peter=

[quote="DeFilippis78" Whats prosecco like?

Literally prosecco means extra dry, it is a sparkling whine typical of North East of Italy.

I forgot what extra dry is. Isnt that more like champagne? Anything from Campania or Calabria, or they are not known for their wine?

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Italian_wines for listing of wines from the provinces of Italy. =Peter=

Extra Dry or Brut wines are not what you want if you are looking for a sweet wine. Looks like you will be able to find a good one. Have fun!
