I've never seen this one. They must have used the same material I did. I got mine from a Geocities website that has been deleted (along with all the other Geocities websites). I created it since that one was gone, but I guess somebody beat me to it,

I'm sorry someone beat you to it, but there are a number of sites that give Italian occupations and their English equivalents, so why not multiple ones about first names?

I hadn't realized until now that the geocities website was gone. I guess I made more use of Ken's Italian Occupations and English Equivalent website, which I see is also gone, but there are others of that kind around too.

First name lists for Italian name equivalents in english as well as Italian (for their meanings or significance) abound on the internet. We can always use more(abbondanza!) even though the subject reminds me of re-inventing the wheel.

The same holds true for occupations but fewer in numbers dating back to medieval to modern as well. =Peter=

Something interesting about the list of occupations. It has Romita/o, and this means hermit. This is funny because my great great grandmother's maiden name was Romito, and her daughter was very reclusive (as were many other family members, myself included).

Anyway, as you and Peter said, it really doesn't hurt to have multiple websites with the same information. It didn't take long to make, and was good practice for making a website.

Dear Squigy surnames develped from nicknames,occupations and anecdotes so that use of the Surname ROMITA/O is likely to have come about in the mists of time and remain a mystery unless you write a book and give it a story!! You did good. =Peter=
