Hi I was wondering about people's responses to sending letters to their italian families. I am worried about sending mine because I am unsure about the response I will get. I don't want to upset anyone. I know there are a few secrets I am sure that my unknown italian family know, which I know very little about.
Am I doing the right thing?

Claire,
I know it's not MY letter going to MY relatives, but I am SOOO excited for you. I hope you let us know if anything comes of it.

Claire,
I found my gfather's family in Italy by writing to all with his surname in the town he came from (there were only 26, it's a small town)...Within a few days, literally, I was getting emails, phone calls & letters in the mail, from those who were actually directly related to me & some who were more distant relatives.
In September, I went over to visit them & now we are FAMILY. We speak on the phone & write emails. They are as glad I found them as I was. Believe me, sending the letters was worth it!

Oh, they'll be as friendly as ever.
Remember things are FAR more family-oriented there, and they consider EVERYONE to be "cousins", even if you are 6th cousins (it's all the same to them)!
Of course, it does make an impression to just go there on a whim, and just look them up, too...
