surname Barberis

I am looking for my husbands Italian/French ancestors by the names of Count de Francisco Barberis (b. 1apr1868 Caselle Torinese, Italy) who married Domenica Katarina Riva (b. 16oct1876 Italy) in 1895 Italy. I know they had a son, Dominic b. 15nov1896 Casina Madonna, Italy & by 1904 they were living here in Fulton County, Illinois. I think they immigrated around 1901 to this area. Family members told me his parents were Francesco Barberis & Rosanna, and Domenica Katarina Riva's parents were Antonio & Domenica (Bianco) Riva & Antonio later married Mary Blasant. I really don't know how to search for Italian ancestors. I have a hand written account that tells about the Barberis clan & how Francisco (Frank) joined the French Foreign Legion for 5 years to gain a passport. I have other Italian tidbits that claim he was a descendent of Frederico Barberis who joined Garibaldi's Redshirts.
