I had a great-grandfather named Geremia. Seems like another good possibility for Jerome, don't you think?

I believe he was a descendant of Cristoforo Colombo (Christopher Columbus)! :wink:

My elementary school (Livio - that was grades Kindegarten through 6, approximately ages 5-6 through 12-13) had a large and very impressive statue on one corner of the grounds with the inscription "Cristoforo Columbo" below.

I don't remember how old I was when I finally figured out that he was the same guy as the Christopher Columbus we learned about in class.
