and from Ellisisland.org the 1913 arrival manifest for Paolo Lovecchio, age 45, widowed, shoemaker, from Modugno (leaving his brother Onofrio in Modugno), travelling with his child Antonia, female, age 17, Angelo, male, age 15, Maria, female, age 7. Paolo stated he was going to Chicago to join his brother in law Angelo Caporosso:

I guess this means that Maria LoVecchio was born in Modungo Italy.

Just a little confusing with the dates b/c I had her being born in 1900 but ellisisland says that she was 7 years old in 1913 when the ship arrived. Bit of a conflict of years there.

Good news is Italy sent my GGF's bc back and I now have it!!

Bad news: They said they could not find my GGM's, Marie Lovecchio, and noted on the request form that she was not born in that commune (Modungo, BA)

Any suggestions on ways to figure this out?

Any documents that might say where she was born that I might be able to get.....i was thinking their marriage cert. but it probably does not have this info b/c i dont think they were required to have this on there back in the day.

When I looked at that 1913 manifest, Maria looks to be 12 years old which makes 1900/1 the right birth year.
I would print a copy of the manifest and request birth records for all three children and their father enclosing the manifest asking if they have 'scheda personale' which would indicate the town of origin.
Since you don't know the name of his wife (Maria's mother) you might want to also request a record for her brother Angelo Caporosso.
