I’m looking for information about Lagomarsinos who came from the Lumarzo area outside Genoa. Five brothers and sisters emigrated from Italy in the 1870’s and settled in Sacramento, California. Their father, Andrea Lagomarsino, may have come too. They were farmers in California, so I suppose they were farmers in Italy too. I’d like to find out about their family and life in Italy.
Other Lagomarsinos settled in the gold country east of Sacramento.
There seems to have been a lot of emigration from that area of Italy about that time. Was there something special going on that caused it?

Re: Lagomarsinos from Lumarzo
Emigration from Italy was a big deal for every single area of the "boot".
Italian people always emigrated to USA, Canada, South america, Africa, Europe.
Lumarzo civil records are kept (write only in italian)
Comune Ufficio di Stato Civile Via Ferriere, 53 CAP 16024 Lumarzo (GE) Italy
also second copies are kept at Genoa state archive

I hope it helps
bye Riccardo

Re: Lagomarsinos from Lumarzo
Thanks for the information. I've never written for foreign records before, and I'm not sure how to request them and pay for copies, etc. I''ll brush up on my Italian and try to find out what records are available before I write. It's nice to have the address right in Lumarzo. Thanks again.
