I'll arrive Saturday afternoon (May 15th) in Rome, and will head to Abruzzo to see birthplace of my grandfather Filippo Rocca. Will also visit the town of Ciccano where my great grandfather Federico Rocca was born.
Does anyone have any information on these towns? I have located Vicoli, but am not sure if there is only one Ciccano or not.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome, Maria.
I replied to your other thread ( http://italiangenealogy.com/Forums/view ... 16733.html ) as well.
THere is no comune (city, town) or frazione (neighborhood) named Ciccano in modern Italy. It is possible that such a place existed in the past, but...
There does exist Ceccano (with an 'e') in the province of Frosinone, slightly (~60 miles) southeast of Rome. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceccano and http://www.comune.ceccano.fr.it/index.asp?h=home for more info.

PS: Enjoy your visit to Italy! I will tell you that it was quite a wonderful feeling the firtst time I walked the same streets that my grandfather did over one hundred years ago.
Not very far from Ceccano, as a matter of fact!

PPS: I don't know what your travel arrangements are, but I will mention that Ceccano can be reached by train from Roma Termini (the main train station in Rome). The trip (from Rome) is about 1 hr 15 minutes to 1 hr 45 minutes depending on which train you take. I don't have the fare available, but I would guess in the 10 - 20 euro range.

Hi again Johnny!
Thanks for all your info. You know, the town my great aunt referred to as Ciccano was supposedly located about 40 miles from Rome. So, I'd say there is a good chance that she didn't know how to spell it correctly- don't you think?
I'll check with my cousins and see if they know anything else. But, what with the Falsani family being located there, I'd say it's a good chance it's the right one!
Thanks again!

Maria, at the bottom of this thread http://italiangenealogy.com/Forums/view ... 16472.html you can find a link to an Excel spreadsheet listing of all 37,000+ comuni and frazioni in Italy. If you don't have the Excel application and do not wish to download the free file viewer from Microsoft (mentioned in the thread), then this site http://www.italyworldclub.com/italian_frazioni/ is another option.
Either way, I think you will see that Ceccano is the only likely possibility in this case.

Was in Ceccano two years ago as my family came from the next town called Pofi.Simply buy ticket in Rome station as was said .Ceccano I believe has about 20,000 people and is a very nice place .It and all the towns around it are where Italians here in my hometown come from.People in the area are both friendly and more then willing to help.
