Hello and Welcome to the Forum!

You may want to check out these free sites:
US records by state
http://www.deathindexes.com/

FamilySearch Pilot
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/rec ... html#start
---

Generally if you can find your family on a census it may lead to other records
Do these census records look correct (misspellings were common)
Thanks, Valarie

I'm so glad we could help!
The 1940 census won't be released until April 2012.
The 1930 census is from ancestry. com. Searching on ancestry - sometimes when you know a location you can search by first name or partial first name and approx birth year. This sometimes works when surnames are frequently misspelled.
If you can find a directory for Bayonne you may be able to find a listing for your family.

Rosie

NJ is not a the easiest state to get vital records from. Try and find the cemetery Salvatore was buried in. Hopefully the date of death is on the headstone or you can get it from the cemetery. Then try to confirm with an obit. Once you have the date, it will be easier to request the death certificate. NJ will ask for the names of Salvatore's parents.

If you live in NJ you can go to the state archives in Trenton and search the records there. Death records available up to 1940. (won't help with Salvatore, but perhaps some others) They are not available online or on LDS microfilm.

Great advice Debbie!

This may help a bit
This Hudson County site has some neat databases:
http://www.hudsoncountynjgenealogy.org/ ... s-pub.html
for example, "The Bayonne Times Death Notices Index 1915-1945"
database has the date of Mary Trifiletti Piazza's death notice as 1937
