Giuliani

Looking to see if there are any Giuliani's in Italy that might be family. My grandfather's name was Beniamino and his brother Julio came to America around 1909. They lived in or around L'Aquila and from what I know came in through Ellis Island. My mother told me that she thought her fathers family were wine makers.
Any help that anyone has would be welcome.

I am sure there are; quite possibly hundreds of them.

As you can see from this map ( http://www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi/genera.html ), the name is extremely common throughout Italy.

Ideally, you/we should try to find your grandfather's immigration records or, better yet, his naturalization records. Armed with that information, we'll have a better idea as to his true place of birth and you can move forward from there.

PS: Giulio, not Julio. Almost certainly.

Ellis Island has only one manifest for a Beniamino. Take a look. Is he a possibility?

I saw that as well.

The date is a whole bunch of years prior to 1909 and nationality/residence ("Tyrolian") is a long way from L'Acquila.

I found more likely manifests for Giulio, but more info is needed.
