Over the weekend I did go to my local LDS library to continue researching. I will say that there is not alot of Italian resources available in Nebraska. I was not able to find any other info. that I didnt already have, but I did speak to a fellow genealogist and he gave me a couple of other places to try. I didnt even think to check local churches that my gggrandfather would have attended. Just another direction to go in. Im starting to feel like Nicholas Cage from the movies "National Treasure".
Just another clue that gets me closer to my family treasure!

Another question: What are peoples feelings on sending out random letters to possible relatives? Just a letter stating who you are, what you are doing and what/who you are looking for. Is that a good idea or not? I have been contemplating this idea for some time now and I just cant decide. I dont want to invade peoples privacy and I definately do not want to upset someone. Just looking for more advice, that's all.

Go to www.initaly.com/gene/mem/letter1.htm for letters in Italian to potential relatives.

To find someone in your town of origin go to www.paginebianche.it and put in the surname int he first line and beneath that the name of the town and then click CERCA for the listing of any person living in thatg town with that name plus a telephone number.

Enclose a self addressed envelope and drop in a couple of dollars for stamnps to encourage a reply. =Peter=

What about someone who lives in the US? Is it still a good idea? I guess the worst thing that would happen is that they dont reply.

How do I start to look for deeds or homeowners papers? I found that two of my relatives both purchased their homes and one owned his own business. Would I check the towns Chamber of Commerce?

Thanks for the info. I will save that for later. I should have been more clear with my question. The relatives that I speak lived on the east coast. One lived in Philadelphia and the other lived in Haddon Heights NJ. Where would I search to find deeds, titles, or other land information?

we are an Italy genealogy forum oriented toward Italy so please be specific as to what country your discussing if you abruptly change your line of inquiry. As for researching land titles maybe you will be better off googling the subject since your in the USA talking about the USA on a subject that is not Italian genealogy which some of us may have to research for you. =Peter=

I just sent out a dozen letters to potential relatives in Muro Lucano. I hope I hear something back in the next couple of weeks. I will keep everyone posted.
This weekend I am going to dive head first into this and try and dig up more info. Wish me luck!

I have just received a couple of emails from possible relatives living in Italy!! What an exciting time. Both of the people said they were going to call everyone in Muro Lucano and try to get as much info. as they can. They are just so excited to help. I am amazed. I also received an email from the Ufficio Elettorale stating that they have a birth record for Vincenzo with his parents names!!! What a great find!

Ill keep posting as the emails come in.

Still no new information. I did find out Vincenzo's parents names though. Now I am going to have to find info. on them. His fathers name was Michelangelo and his mothers name was Rosa (Crusco). I think they are both from Muro Lucano, but I'm not for sure. If anyone has any info., I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again Peter. You are always a big help. I still had the email address from their last reply so I quick shot one over to them. Maybe I'll get a response back. I'll just have to wait and see.

Concerning Vincenzo Crusco, I think we have a common ancestor. My Great Grandfather Felice Cipolla (AKA Felix Cipollo) arrived on the Alesia from Naples on May 19, 1893 from Muro Lucano. He was age 15. Who did Felix come with? He came with his sister Rosemarie or "Rosa." The ship manifest lists Rosa Moglie (age 19) just before Felice on the manifest. Moglie is Italian for "wife" indicating that the person listed above Rosa, Vincenzo Crusco (age 21) in the list is Rosa's husband. Rosa was 19.

Vincenzo and Rosa are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA (Philly suburb). He died in 1960. She died in 1957.

I'm very curious about the success you had searching for Vincenzo's family in Muro Lucano. I'm eager to find a way to find search for roots in Muro Lucano.
