sending payment for Italian records/extracts

Post by elmosgirl »

I've read so many conflicting directions about sending payment with initial correspondence requesting records in Italy.

Some sources say include a donation in the letter, others say to ask in the body of the request about the fees, still others say request information about expenses before committing to a records-search.........

I'm very new to this and would appreciate all the help and direction from those of you who have experience and know much better!

Thank you :)

In the very first correspondence you should just offer to pay for the expenses and other costs.
