Note: according to the 1909 manifest (pg 2) found by maestra36 :D and posted by mj :D ,
Filomena and her son Giuseppe were born in Terlizzi, probably Terlizzi, Bari, Apulia/Puglia
If you would like to write to Terlizzi for a confirming birth record for Giuseppe:

Comune di Terlizzi
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Piazza IV Novembre 16
70038 Terlizzi BA
ITALY

Valarie
I'm sorry, but I beg to differ with you concerning Terlizzi being the place of birth of Giuseppe and Filomena. On the original passenger list, it lists Terlizzi as their last residence, not their place of birth. Experience has taught me that last residence is not always place of birth. I recall one instance in finally finding my cousin's mother's ancestors on a passenger list and getting a town name, only to rent a roll of microfilmed records for a 10 year period to find that no one in the town had the surname. I ultimately found them using a regional microfilm. They were born in some other town within the same province, but nevertheless a town different from the one listed as last residence on their passenger list. So I think that looking at Terlizzi as their place of birth is a mistake.

Actually I have to apologize to you vj. I just looked at page 2 of the manifest and you are right. Terlizzi is given as the place of birth, so writing to the comune is a good idea. Sorry but I just got out of bed. Maybe I should go back.

Hi Peg!
Your cautionary note about last residence is correct and a very good reminder.
It's often easy to assume that on manifests before abt 1907-8 that the last place of residence is the place of birth (or marriage) - in many cases it isn't.
I appreciate your vigilance
The two page manifests after abt 1907-8 really help to identify the correct towns of birth.
Thank you :D !

Greetings Valarie,

Amazing....you have helped me so much and you also helped answer a question I had left...what happened to Michael? Apparently he was born here which is why there were no records of him from Italy. I was confused and now I have all the answers. THANK YOU for taking your time to help me.

The information from the census, with address nails it down. I was raised in Conshohocken and I know the address shown on record. It was in my family for a long time. Just had not idea how long... You are wonderful. A million thank you's.

This site is amazing and what is so great is how willing everyone is to jump in and provide data. I am beyond appreciative. You have no idea what this information means to me and my family.

With the kindest regards,
Maria

Maria, thank you so much for the lovely note :D .
With the contributions from members Michael, Mary Jo and Peg it was pretty easy to track down your census records.
You're right this is a great site where we all can build on each other's research.
Please let us know if here is anything else we can do to help!
