Gesualdo, Avellino
Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
I didn't know that Vincenzo went back to Italy. His petition for naturalization sounds correct. His wife was Giovanni and was born in Frigento. At the time they had three children, Angela, Giovanni, Lina. later in NY they had two more children Louis and Frances.
Even his witnesses names sound familiar.
This is amazing, I hope you can find records for Carmine tomorrow. It must be late, so good night. Wonderful!

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
Do not know the name Folmcci. Was it not spelled correctly? Because other info seems correct. I remember my father saying that his grandfather worked for the railroad. I know for sure that his grandfather Forgione is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn. NY
My father told me that as a young boy, his grandfather and he would go to the cemetery and polish the grave stone. I go there now to pray for their souls. My grandmother Pasquelina Barbaro,(Ceglio, Forgione) my uncle Vincenzo (James) Forgione and his wife Giovanni are also their. Perhaps Carmine is there also.
Next time I travel to Brooklyn I must remember to look. Or perhaps you could find burial records for Holy Cross Cemetary in Brooklyn, NY.. Thanks again

Hi!
You may want to look in person first, it appears that requests for information are a bit pricey:
http://www.cathcemetery-bklyn.org/pages.php?page=11
Find-A-Grave has a partial listing:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cg ... CRid=64166
Interment. net listing is even smaller, but has interesting background information on the cemetery:
http://www.interment.net/data/us/ny/kin ... _cross.htm
On the 1910 census I'm guessing the name was just spelled wrong and then transcribed poorly.

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
I received today's message and links. Thank you.
I really need to go to Holy Cross Cemetery and see if Carmine is laid to rest there and the dates of birth and death.
I will notify you if I'm successful.
Thank you, again for all your assistance. I will let you know what I find.

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
Yes, Carmine Barbaro 13 Dec 1887 of 28 Marconi Place was my grandmother pasqulina's 2nd husband. I called Holy Cross Cemetery just a few minutes ago and found out that Carmine, my grandmothers husband is buried there. He passed away on August 20, 1946 (today would be his anniversary (how strange is that). They spelled his name Barbero (misspelled) and Pasquelina was spelled Barbere (misspelled)
I'm beginning to think that if Vincent Forgione and Carmine Forgione had gone back to Italy at some time, that perhaps Carmine died in Italy, because there seems to be record of him in NY.
Vincent Forgione, my grandmother's brother did live at 28 Ocean Place with his family, Wife Giovannia, daughters Angelina,Lena, Helen son John. later they had two more children a girl Frances and a boy Louis. If only we could find Carmine forgione. How wonderful !

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
Wow!
That was really nice of Holy Cross to help you over the phone
I'm thinking that Carmine may have died before the 1910 census
(since Angela listed only two children living)
New York was a tough place to live at the turn of the century, especially for children
Neat coincidence for Carmine Barbaro today - shows he's not forgotten

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
I believe that you are correct, because I never knew that there was another brother, Carmine. I only knew my grandmother Pasquelina, grandfather Carmine Barbaro died when I was 3 years old and I knew her brother Vincent, my uncle Jim we would call him, his wife Jennie, we would call her and their 6 children. How wonderful it has been to locate so many of them. You will never know how much this means to me. THANKS

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
Hello All,
It is very interesting that I see the address 2358 Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn, NY listed here with the town of Gesualdo. My fiancee's great-grandfather Camillo Nitti from Gesualdo, lived at this address with his family from 1899 until his death in 1910, and some of the family still lvied there until 1913.
He was an grocer at this address until 1905 when he was listed as an undertaker.

Re: Gesualdo, Avellino
My family is from Gesualdo. My great grandfather was Camillio Nitti and my great grandmother was Terrisina Nitti. I am going to visit in September if possible and was hoping for any information or family. Thanks Vincent Nitti
