First go to www.gens.labo.net/en/cognomi and pujt in the name and then click the red arrow. This will givde you the distribution of the name you put in thruout Italy

For Bonito itslef go to their telephone directory at www.paginebianche.it and put in the name on the left and BONITO on the right and click CERCA
Full names, addresses and telephone numbers will come up. There are 14 Belmonte in BONITO

I think yhou have to familiarize yhourself with Italian genealogy so tghat we will be able to assist you more readily as you will then know what to look for in these names.

There is a companion book for the Mormon church familyhistory library microfilms which is titled DISCOVERING YOUR ITALIAN ANCESTORS written by Lynn Nelson in english and explains the films as you go along. I guess you canborrow this from your local library or have them call for the book from somwhere in your system or buy it (cheap) for your library.

When you get thru reading the How to do yhour own Italian genealogyh then get back. You willnot feel overwhelmed at that point and we are here to direct your efforts at every turn!!!!!!!documents can be obtained from Italy free of charge for most documents. =Peter=

I assume your talking about the book Discovering Your Italian Ancestors by Lynn Nelson. Your public library or a book dealer may furnish you with the particulars of the book. Sorry Momron family History Library was unable to assist you but its not one of their publications. =Peter=

Just thought I'd add my family info. My grandmother is a Belmonte and her grandparents came from Bonito. My great-great-grandfather Stefano Belmonte arrived (from Bonito) in NY on April 21, 1894. He quickly moved to Boston, which was his final destination. My family has been in the Boston area ever since.
