Chiavari Birth certificate

Post by Georginar »

Hi!
I know that I haven been around lately but I don't know where else to write.
I'm sending emails to everyone i know that migh know some Italian, but so far nothing...

My problem is this:
I have my ancestors birth certificate, they sended it to my cousin on 2001, the Latin copy and the Italian translation.
We didn't use it back then, but now that I want to start my italian citizenship, the copies I have only have the parish seal and the priest signature, but he never sended it to the Curia, so it is worthless here.

I sended one letter in January, and it came back without even being open!
And I went to this Patronato Italiano here in buenos aires in march and they made this presentation asking for the certificate again, and I attached the copies I have, so it would be easier for them to track it down.
They never answered back, the only thing that got back was the paper saying that the parish got the letter in June.
Since they never answered, the Patronato called the church, and the new priest told them that there weren't any certificates for the person we're looking for... and that CANT be true. since I already have the Latin copy and the Italian one (translation) they sended in 2001.

So I was hoping to get some advise, since I don't speak Italian, and the certificate I need is from 1825, and some people say that the churches only have records for that period

I attache one copy, the translation here, to see if anyone can give me any other peace of information I could be missing and make the priest find it!

Thanks!!!

I live 10km from Chiavari.
I'll print the doc you already have and try to talk to the priest this week end to see if he finds the record.
The only thing you need is a stamp by the Curia? I'll ask him for explainations!
Hope to help you

wowwwwwwwwwww!! I guess luck is smiling at me :P
I think that someone going over is the better way, but... I'm in Argentina and don't speak Italian :S

What I need is a new birth certificate with the priest AND curia signature and stamp, because the one I have is from 2001 and here at the consulate only accept certificates that where legalized within a 10 year period, and its almost the end of year! :P

If you pull this off... my family will be sooooooo grateful!!!! THANKS
