Thank you James! I did not know how to find the churchbooks on LDS so your link was a big help. I guess Battesimi is Baptism. I found the churchbooks are alphabetic, and are they sorted after the fathers first name? I have never read Italian churchbooks before, so I would be happy if you could explain to me how they are organized, how to find names, years and dates.

Re: Trayna from Italy lived in New York
Depending on the time frame you are working with, the indexes might be by the first name of the subject, or after about 1820 by surname.
Each book will contain an alphabetical index at either the beginning or the end. The index is not in alphabetical order, but rather (typically) sequential by page. So .. all the "A" names will be in one section, but will start from the beginning and run to the end of book.
If you need more help, I'd be glad to get you started if you give me a name and approximate year of birth. The great thing also about these Prizzi records is that the priests created genealogical registers which they used to document the various familial relationships between spouses so that the proper dispensations could be issued for their marriage to occur. I have never seen this before!

Re: Trayna from Italy lived in New York
My family in Norway lost contact with my uncle and his family after Marie died in 1981 (my uncle died in 1960). I know they had 2 boys, which I have not been able to locate. But I am curios about my uncle and aunt. I found it strange he married an italian girl. I thought the "nations" more or less kept the marriages between themselves (and my uncle was not a catholic, as far as I know), or am I mistaken?
I have my aunts Application for Social Security Account Number, and this says her father is William Trayna and the mother is Anna Gordano.

Re: Trayna from Italy lived in New York
I found his (Vito's) baptism in Prizzi 7 Dec 1879, son of Girolamo Traina (son of Vito) and his wife Giovanna Randazzo (daughter of Alfonso).
I also found Girolamo's rather detailed marriage entry 6 February 1861 to Giovanna Randazzo
I can email them to you if you send me an email with yours to:
