Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Lucap, so he married ROSA and no Vincenza as the reocrd showed? That's a big mistake on the priest's part and has caued me much searching. If u look at my Last JPG, dated Tue Jan 11, 2011 8:44 pm it is quite clear that the husband if left column is Filippo and on the right side the bride is displayed as Vincenza and not Rosa.
Now, I can be confident that Voncenza did die in 1700 and Filippo remarried Rosa. But, why didn't the priest say this> This is so diffiuc;t!
Thank you.

An error is always possible!helepera wrote:I just found a Death record showing that Philip Alfano was the husband of Vincenza, who died in 1700! This is 8 years prior to the above marriage. I suspect that the priest made a mistake with the entry, and that Phil, married Rosa Tamborello in 1708 and WAS one married to VINCENZA. i beliebe Rosa and Vincenza were sisters. So u think that is possible?
Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Please, remember me what record you refer to (show me the picture, if you can).helepera wrote:Lucap, so he married ROSA and no Vincenza as the record showed?
Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Ok, ok I see. Yes the priest wrote Vincenza in the right side but ROSA in the body of the act. I think he made confusion with Rosa mother's name (Vincenza)

Thanks. I believe the priest's error ahs caoused much confusion! So many other record show Rosa as the wife of Phillip. I'm glad the issue is solved:-)

Hello again,
Several posts back, Lucap provided the latin translation of a marriage record. After researching records, I am having a problem identifying names in the record.
So, pls help me to better understand the English translation of the following latin translation. I need to know if parents, grandparents and former spouses are listed. Many thanks!!

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
This was an earlier translation fo the record above, a copy is at the very bottom of this post:
Carmelo Pecoraro son of Antonio (of the late Girolamo) and Angela.
Antonina [please note: in the document the name of the bride is Francesca!!] Ferrara daughter of Francesco (of the late Domenico) and xxx [Piera?] xxx of the late Girolamo
So, is it possible that:
1. name PIera above may be Petra di Gristina.
2. Carmelo's father is Anthony. Anthony's parents (are deceased) Girolamo. and Angela.
3. Bride is Francesca Ferrara, her father is Francesco.
4. Francesco's parents are Dom. Ferrara and Petra di Gristina, and Petra's dad is (late) Girolamo. Or was Petra the widow of Girolomo di Gristina?
If possible, can you provide English translation because this record is very confusing.

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Thanks. This doc was really difficult for me.
Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
As per Lucap 3-22-11 3:10pm
I charted the info u provided and it seems that the identity of Francesco wife is unknown. Is it possibe that;swhy there is confusion in this record. The bride is shown by the names Antonia and Francesca. The doc doesn'tl list a wife for Francesco Pecoraro=, so perhaps one of these 2 females is his wife???/ Pls take a look at original and share your thoughts wi th me. .
This is the factual chart of your translation. As you can see, a wife is missing for Fracnesco. Odd....
Document sgows the name of the bride is Francesca, but Index shows brde is Francesca Ferrara. The bride (Antonina/Francesca) marries Carmelo Pecorraro.
Carmelo P. is the son of Antonio P. and Angela.
Hieronmy is the father of Antonio Pecoraro.
Francesca is the daughter of Francesco.
Francesco is the son of Domenic, and his wife is Petra di gristina.
Girolamo is the father of Dom. Pecoraro

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Francesco Pecoraro? Are you sure?
Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Hi Lucap,
I am confused. Take a look at the record again and I sent another wedding record, that Ibelive is within the same family.

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Again, , I apologize for the confusion, but as I mentioned the Pecoraro record is proving to be quite complex.
I found a new 1727 marriage record for Francesco Ferrara and it appears that he married Petronilla Gristina.
In this record it seems that Franco is the son of the late Dom, and perhaps the grandson of Anthoni, - or is Anto/a, the wife of Dom? Also Hieronomi appears to be the father of Petra, and perhaps Philippe/a is Petra's grandfater, -or the wife of Hieronomi. I believe this record contains the same individuals that are noted in the Carmelo Pecoraro -Ferrara marriage record of 1771. Can u pls let me know the English translation of the realtionships found here for Ferrara-Gristina:

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
Ahh, you mean Francesco Ferraro, not Pecoraro!!!
Well, this is the trancription:
Die vigesimo octavo (=28) ejusdem
Denunciationibus praemissis tribus diebus
festivis continuis videlicet die 8, 14
22 ejusdem (mensis) inter missarum sollem-
nia nulloque impedimento detecto Ego
Sacerdos D. Vitus Macchi(??) Aeconomus
huius matricis Ecclesiae interrogavi Fran-
ciscum Ferraro schettum filium legitimum et
naturalem quondam Dominici et Antoninae olim jugalium
huius terrae prizzi, et Petronillam
Gristina etiam schettam filiam legitimam et naturalem
Hijeronimi et Philippae jugalium huius
praedictae terrae eorumque habito consensu
per verba de presenti sollemniter matrimonio con-
iunxi, praesentibus testibus notis Reverendo

Petronilla Gristina, daughter of the living Girolamo and Filippa (all living in Prizzi)

Re: Need help translation Marriage Record Palermo
They are the same individuals, because Petra is the short form for Petronilla.
