Gigante from Capua

Post by camillabella »

Hi!

My paternal grandmother was one of the first Gigantes in her family to be born in the U.S. Her father, Carmine Gigante was born in Capua in 1861 and made several trips to the U.S. starting in 1896, becoming a citizen in 1901. I think I found all there is to find on ancestry.com, so I'd like to start looking for information from his birth place. I've been doing general searches on the name and the area on the Internet, which is how I found this site. I am now trying to plan my next steps and any advice would be greatly appreciated!
:) Camille

Camille,

Some records from Capua are available on Ancestry--province of Caserta, Campania.

If you know your great grandfather's marriage year and he was married in Capua, you can scroll through the records for the act or the pubblicazione of marriage.

Thank you everyone! I found his marriage papers on Ancestry as Biff recommended and am going to put together some request letters.

Thanks again!

You do not have to put together some request letters just lift your head up to my last entry for the requisite form letters. I presume you have the address for the Stato Civile office. =Peter=

By "put together," I meant plugging in the appropriate information and sending the requests.
