Need assistance with old document from Messina

Post by ItalianbellaSA »

Hi and hope everyone is having a great day! We are getting snow in the suburbs of New York City so I am home this afternoon.

I have an old document which I think is a marriage contract between my material grandparents. The back of the document has a stamp from Messina but I can't find a date. I scanned it as best I can. I hope someone will be able to help. I tried to attach it however, the file is too large so I will upload it to Image Shack.

Thanks.

I just realized when I looked at another post that someone was able to post the link from imageshack. I guess I have to learn the ropes to this, as I am still quite new. If this is not the correct thing to do, please let me know. Thanks again.
It is hoped that the research I am doing helps to discover, preserve and celebrate my family history.

It's weird, bur page 2 does not come up!

The document is a transcription of the sale of a house (2 rooms on 2 stores) located in Piano Annunziata, a hamlet of Montagnareale. Sellers are Salvatore Petrullo and his wife Giuseppa Dinaro, buyers Maria Incognito (daughter of the deceased Rosario) and her husband Giuseppe Crifò (son of Antonio).
This happened on February 24, 1925 in front of the Notary Michele Falcone of Hobocken, New Jersey and was notified on April 11 1925 to The Notary Giovanni Orlando in Patti.

Thank you very much. I never knew that my grandparents owned anything in Italy. They both immigrated to the United States very young. Now it makes sense of another document I found, too.

Thank you very, very much for your time.

the letter, dated 6 september 1952, is from Angela Santospirito to her uncle.

She says that her husband Salvatore Sorbera is a shoe repairer in contrada Scuro (a hamlet of Patti) and, since the village has very few inhabitants he earns very little money, so they have decided to move to Gallo or S. Nicolella in order to have additional customers. And she is proposing that her uncle sells to them the small house situated near Buzzanca. She is offering 250,000 Italian lire...

In few words who writes is the nice, and she says her husband is a shoemaker and in the hamlet where they live, there are few people, so few job, so they want to move to another hamlet, where there are more people living there and where her uncle own a room, so she wants to buy it for 250000 liras, a price that no one ever offered him, so she wants to know if the uncle agrees to the transaction for buy/sell this property.
I hope it helps
bye Riccardo

Thanks for all your help. I've uploaded two more documents that are probably related to this post.

http://img440.imageshack.us/i/scan0044j.jpg/

These might be some more documentation on the property that my grandparents owned or sold.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
