Gullo-Polimeo in Castelbuono, Sicily

Post by auntfeffie13 »

i am looking to build this side of my family tree & have hit a dead end. my great-grandparents are from castelbuono (at least g-mom is, assuming he is too). her maiden name was antonia (antoinetta) polimeo. her parents' names are possibly salvatore & carmela. antonia would have been born in 1906 & she immigrated to the us at about 14-17 depending who you ask in my family. my great-grandfather's name was philipo (philip) gullo. i have NO family info for him. he was born in 1893 & was from sicily, again i'm assuming the same town. any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the website just a little more info from you would help us out. Where did Antonia live and die in the States? Where did Phil Gullo live and die also? Tracing them backwords would be the best way to start through census and death, immigration and other records.

Sorry I haven't responded. I never got notification of replies. I do have his draft card but I never noticed the town. Thank you for letting me know. Philip came here under his middle name, Pietro, through Canada, and lived in Florida for awhile before moving to NYC. She came in through Boston to live in NYC in 1921. They met and married by the end of 1922. They moved to new jersey in 1940 & lived their until their deaths.

I have found my ggf's birth record (1892) that states his parents were Giuseppe Gullo and Paola pullara. Was told by a family member that they thought her maiden name was Agliata. Is there any way that someone could help me find a marriage record for them? I have a suspicion that her parents may be
Pietro Agliata Pullara
1806 –

Guiseppa Gullo
1816 –
But don't have a record that proves it for sure. They came up as most likely suspects, lol, in doing a search.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
