Copy of Birth Certificate

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Copy of Birth Certificate

Post by dsillyp »

I am applying for dual citizenship through my mothers father. I need a birth certificate of my mom who is deceased. In the state of Maryland the Vital Statistics do not issue copies of a deceased persons birth certificate. All I have is a short form. Does anyone know if this will be acceptable. If not, how will I ever be able to get a long form is the State refuses to issue one?

Thanks!

I do not know about the state of Maryland, but usually most states will change their rules if you explicitly tell them WHY you need it. For example, Cook County in Chicago said they do not issue certified copies of marriage certificates which are older than 50 years. I called desperate, and they said pay another few bucks and write a letter as to why. Did that last week, let's see if it works.

That is your mother, and you have a legal right to the certificate. I think they will understand that. I would keep pressing them. Good luck,

You will need a certified copy of the birth certificate. Because this must be ceritified, I am sure you will need an official copy.

You should be able to get a copy at the health department of the county in which your mother was born. I suppose you might need proof of who you are in order to get a copy of her birth certificate.

Look on the Internet for access to "certified copies of birth certificates in Maryland."
