Re: Need Input Please
Aw...thanks guys for the compliments
Janet I can't seem to get at that 1907 manifest. When you do a search, it finds it, but then takes you to this manifest full of germanic or scandanavian people. I tried 20 pages either way and that darn manifest wouldnt end!! Oh and another thing, there was only ONE Emmanuele Gallina that every arrived into Ellis Island, and given the fact that Vito would have had a brother with that name, and the year is just too perfect (just three years after Vito's...I can't help but think this 1913 Emmanuele is his brother) If you could possibly send me a copy of the 1907 manifest I will look at it, or even better find it on the Ellis Island site and send me the link.
Thanks
Jim

James might be able to figure out surname... and the addressOn the 1907 manifest, Vito lists another brother-in-law in Brooklyn but I can't make out the name...looks like Antonio Badafomin. Could I call on your expertise to identify that name? Can't make out the address either.

ah..Badalmenti/Badalmente looks like Antonino.
The last name is definitely right tho. Clear as day to me. Very common in Carini.

Re: Need Input Please
Oh, sorry Jim, I forgot that that 1907 manifest was a bad link...it took me a long time, page by page to finally get to the right manifest. Thanks mfjp, for sending the correct link.JamesBianco wrote:ah..Badalmenti/Badalmente looks like Antonino.

Now what to do with the info.....guess I'll see if I can find this guy on the census and when he immigrated.
Jim, I sent you a message on the yahoo forum earlier. I'm having trouble accessing the 1629 - 1660 extractions. Don't know if it's me or my computer. Would appreciate a suggestion. Thanks.

Thanks Jim, I got the e-mail. Now I've got more work to do.
As far as Emmanuele Gallina is concerned, I think you are probably right, it must be Grandpa Gallina's brother. Guess I can't prove it though until I can get hold of some Carini baptisms between 1875 and 1880.
I saw all those Badalmenti immigrants and even found them on the census, but it doesn't tell me anything either. Oh well, maybe some day all the pieces will fall together.
Thanks again for everybody's help.

Oh Jim, you did it! You proved another sibling!! I am soooo happy. I'm not too good at this Latin stuff, I can just barely pick out the names. Could I pester you to give me a translation so I know if I read the names right? You are such a dear! How can I ever repay you? Bet you sleep good at night knowing how you are helping so many people.
Thank you. thank you, thank you!

Re: Need Input Please
Jim,
I have found the church records you have been posting very educational. I haven't jumped into church records yet. They look rather intimadating though. Another language to learn, Latin. Oh no.

Re: Need Input Please
great! Latin is not that difficult to learn. At least in terms of finding the important information from the records. It is a necessity before 1808/1809/1820(sicily)1865(Northern Italy) if we want to trace further back than the Stato records. Now that I have experience with the Sicilian church records, I wish I could get farther back on my Provincia di Isernia lines. The Catholic church in Mainland Italy does not seem to be cooperating with the LDS church. That is truly sad.VaDeb wrote:Jim,
