Translation Help Please - Miltary Record

Post by Timmwill »

As someone new to all this, this is the first time I have seen this type of military record. It came has one large page so I had to scan it into two halves (top and bottom). This is my wife's grandfather (Giuseppe Lapolla) born in Ogliastro Cilento, Salerno in 1884.

I know this contains lots of information, but is there anyone who could help me with most of the document please. I also need help with what the actual sections are. That is, the pre-printed part of the record.

Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who might be able to help me on this one!

I am not going to try to decipher it, but the document looks like a "Foglio Matricolare" - a complete record of the person's military service. It includes personal data (height, weight, identifying features, DOB, parents' names, etc), enlistment information, promotions, service awards and medals, campaigns and major battles fought, and so on.

Perhaps you can get Livio's attention for a translation. :)
