What is the order of the full name

Post by rancelli »

On a manifest record? I believe I found an obituary, in fact I'm almost positive that this Angela Rosa Mastroberti was in fact my great uncles wife. In the obituary it says her name was Rosie Mastrobuck. Obviously Mastrobuck was wrong. Would Rosa or Rosie be her firs name? On the manifest it has Mastroberti Angela Rosa in that order.

I think she's on line 13

In my experience, the order is generally first given name followed by second given name.

However, I see no reason why this should dissuade you. Many people of all backgrounds choose to primarily use their middle name throughout their adult life. In other cases, the first name was given as an honorific to a deceased ancestor, but the child is called by the middle name from birth.
