I recently asked on the Vico Equense Facebook page if anyone knew where the Casale San Ciro was. I have tried to google translate the reply but it didn't really make sense. Can anybody translate this for me please:-
"sicuramente era chiamata cosi la parte centrale di vico che in quel periodo aveva solo poche abitazioni intorno alla chiesa di san ciro oltre al rione vescovado"
Thanks
NB I get the general idea but really don't understand the - "oltre al rione vescovado" bit.

Re: Short translation request
I havent seen the whole message but this what I get...
It was named the central part of the village which at that time it only had a few houses around the church in addition to the district office of the diocese.
rione(district) vescovado (diocese or bishops office)

Thanks Marty
I am afraid that is the whole message.
The area is now just a section of the town rather than a separate Casale - I wonder why (if it was so small an area in the 1860s) it was chosen for the Bishops office?
