Family of Mary Castello
Re: Family of Mary Castello
Thank you again Johnny I am sending letters to the Sferra's in California.
Re: Family of Mary Castello
The story about the lace mentioned that Gennaro had 2 sons in the business with him. This Henry A. and Enrico has me confused. How can they be one and the same.?? They have the same birthdate; could they have been twins?

Enrico and Henry are the same person; Henry being the common anglicazation of Enrico.
I found this 1910 census which ties everything together very nicely:
1910 United States Federal Census about Genora Sferra
Name: Genora Sferra
[Genoro Sferro]
[Gerono Sperro]
Age in 1910: 45
Estimated Birth Year: 1865
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Head
[Self (Head)]
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Spouse's Name: Mamie Sferra
[Antonetta Sferra]
Home in 1910: Manhattan Ward 9, New York, New York
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of immigration: 1886
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Genora Sferra 45
Mamie Sferra 26
Eunico Sferra 4
Albert Sferra 3
Amedeo Sferra 9/12 [0] (means 9 months)
Filomeno Sferra 50
Antonetta Sferra 50
Michael Sferra 22
Anthoney Sferra 10
Angelina Sferra 16
Maria Sferra 9
"Genora" and "Mamie" are really Gennaro and Maria. Eunico is Enrico.
Filomeno is Gennaro's brother; the remaining persons are Filomeno's wife and children.
In 1910, Gennaro and Maria had three sons, Enrico (Henry), Albert, and Amedeo. If only two joined the father's business, it could be that one of them died early or went on to some other occupation.
The 1920 census might show additional children...

I am afraid I don't understand the question. How is it blocked?BeckyA wrote:Hi Johnny could you send that article another way. I am at the library and it is blocked. Thank you.
Here is the link to the original site with the info on Sferra lace: http://www.horchow.com/store/catalog/pr ... &010=K3699
Did you see my last reply with the 1910 census of the entire Gennaro Sferra family?

Thanks I got it now. For some reason library computers block something even though there is nothing wrong with the sight.
Re: Family of Mary Castello
Becky - I am the daughter of Gennaro Sferra and am curious about why you are asking about the family. I have quite a bit of family history including a scrapbook about my father's death, but I have to admit that it feels a little weird to find your name popping up on a Google alert and seeing all this information posted. So I am happy to help you but curious about your interest. You can email me at ksferra@gmail.com.
Thanks.
Thanks.
