Need help reading names on marriage certificate
Hello, I have been doing a lot of work since you last helped me a few weeks back regarding my family in cittanova. I have since received my grandparents marriage certificate. This was Luigi molina, from Cittanova and Maria Surace (born in brooklyn). I am trying to read the names of Luigis Mother as well as Maria's parents so i can continue with the Molina tree and start on my grandmothers sides but I cannot read this handwritting! Ive tried various options into ancestry.com but no luck. If someone could help I would appreciate it, as you are more familiar with the Italian surnames.
I have two photographs with the names but I am not finding a way to upload it here. Or if someone could help that I could mail them the photos. Thanks so much in advance!
Best,
Susan

Also, great way to research names for valid spelling: the Italian telephone directory at http://paginebianche.it/index_en.html

For Domenick, are you referring to the Italian spelling? It would be Domenico.

Hi there,
I agree - Rosa's last name is Giovinazzo.
Angelina's however, I believe is Casciano.

Re: Need help reading names on marriage certificate
Giovinazzo is the most common surname found in Cittanova. Casciano is also found in Reggio Calabria (the greatest concentration in Reggio di Calabria), although smaller concentrations of that surname can also be found elsewhere (Abruzzo, Lazio, Foggia, Campania). In fact, Casciano can be found in the town of Rizziconi, which is located right next to Cittanova, just a few miles away. Just a thought. Often US marriages are between paisani.
