Pasquale D'Errico born in Carpino

Post by ericderrico »

I'm trying to find information on Carpino Italy. I've tried writing to the comune with no reply and am sending out another letter.

I believe my GGF was born in Carpino according to certain documents. However, everything else seems to indicate his family was from Rodi Garganico, though he definitely wasn't born there as I've already heard back from them.

Basically, I need to find out more about Carpino. What likely would have been the church he would have been christened at and how could I get in touch with them?

Also, outside of ordering microfilms from the LDS, is there any immediate access to Carpino birth records, such as ancestry . com?

Thanks for the help.

It looks like a lovely little town. Is this the address you have?

Here is their official website. I believe you will find email info there.

thanks misbris,

those towns in the gargano area all seem really spectacular, looking forward to visit.

I do have the contact details for the civil office, but was curious about possibly looking into whatever possible churches are there to double check information.

From the microfilms it would appear that the town lost a lot of records during WW2 so they may not have what you are asking for and so haven't responded.

Just out of curiosity ItalySearcher, would the birth records from 1891 be included? I'm also looking for the dual citizenship and this may present a hiccup in my obtaining key documents, so I'd be good to know ahead of time.

Thanks for the information.

If the records in the Comune were destroyed during WW2 the townspeople present (alive) after the war reconstructed their records from memory or other documents they had on hand. Persons who had already emigrated did not reconstruct their records except in rare cases.
If the church still has their records I believe the consulate will accept a copy of the baptism record in these cases.

Hi Crono,

I'm having trouble locating my GGF's birth cert in Carpino. I even looked up familysearch's database of Carpino records with no luck. I've written to Carpino with no reply, so not sure what is going on. Is there a way I could find out if Carpino actually DOES have his records?

is there a way to find out about the record without writing to them? they don't seem too bothered to answer letters.
