Hi I have being trying to trace a distant relative for some time now and i am at a loss his name is Giovanni petrosemoli he was born in 1840 in Rome i believe he was a Garibaldi . i have traced his records in the UK but i cannot find any immigration info or anything more before his marriage in the UK

any leads would be appreciated

Two comments:

1) I would not put a lot of faith in the actual birthplace being Rome. This could easily have been a generalization, similar to "Italian Subject, Italy" in the 1901 census.

2) The spelling Petrosemoli does not seem to exist in Italy today, however Petrosemolo with a final "o" does. You may want to take this into consideration when searching for records. You should also keep an eye open for Pietrosemoli/o with the added "i".

Married in a registry office. In the district of Marylebone
Pasquale is a Jeweller living at 113 Great Portland Street
Pasquale‘s father is Antonio Novissimo a proprietor
Elena lived at 3 Vinery Villas, North Bank, Marylebone district London
Elena’s father was Giovanni Piccirillo (Deceased) an Interpreter

Witnesses to the marriage were
Giovanni Petrosemoli
Gaetano Giuliano This will be the brother of Carlo perhaps

My Pasquale came from Naples. He moved to Shepherds Bush by 1877.
So Pasquale must have known Giovanni Petrosemoli . Was he also from Naples ?
