Searching for an Amato in Italy

Hi,
I have a lot of information about the Amato family from Milazzo, but there is something I'm trying to find out and I'm wondering if you can help.

From the scanned LDS records I have found my great-great grandparents' names and children. Virtually all of them either stayed in Milazzo or came to the U.S.

One son who stayed in Italy was my paternal great-grandfather's brother.

His name was Rosario Amato born in Milazzo April 3 1881. We know that he was still in Italy in 1953, but that he likely moved away from Sicily, possibly to Rome, possibly to Como.

Given that I know his actual birthdate, how could I go about searching the records in Italy for children/grandchildren of this person? There could easily be living relatives there.

I see the Family History Library only goes 1910 so you might have to write Milazzo for info so you can check those marriage records Matrimoni 1888-1910 Morti 1869-1882 FHL INTL Film 1742543 If you cant find his marriage act you might have to write for info
Do you know if Rosario Amato born in Milazzo April 3 1881 got married and do you have his italian birth record. If you do I would send for there marriage record and send a copy of his birth record with the request and ask them to check there index and registry for martrimoni act 1911-1916 that would make his age and see if he was still there in Milazzo then you have his wifes maiden name then you can start looking for there kids

Thanks for the reply. I have his birth record, so I already know his actual date of birth. How will having his marriage record help me find his children and date/place of death?

Then you can start from that year of there marriage and search for children with his name and his wifes maiden name on there birth acts and go a year at a time searching records

Oh, OK. Well, I have already searched all of the records of all of the Amatos in that town and I did not find any marriage or children in Milazzo. That's why I was wondering if there was another way of tracking this person someplace else in Italy considering he died probably after 1953.

He might have gotten married after 1910 so you would have to write to the town and find out because the FHL records only go 1910

On his birth record is there a street list as via??? could go through the italian phone book and see if there any Amato's still living on that street and write to them for info about your Rosario Amato
