My italian uncle prisoner during the World War II

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

My italian uncle prisoner during the World War II

Post by chaika »

Hi, I'm looking for my uncle Simula Angelo (date of birth 1899? in Alghero (SS)- Sardinia), who worked as a fireman on board of cargo ships from Genoa (Town when he lived) to all over the world. I found a passengers-crew list of Ida Vessel departed from MArsiglia and arrived at Brownsville (Texas) in 1938. Later in the period (1939-1945)I knew he was detained at Montgomery County Court House in New York. Have you any information and documents/photos about these years of imprisonment?
Thanks a lot! Have a goodtime:)

Are you saying he was held as a prisoner of war? If so, I would have expected him to be shipped to one of many internment camps; there were at least a couple of them in New York State however I cannot locate any in Montgomery County.
