The census info should list immigration year, which will help you narrow down a time frame. Also, what does it list for naturalization? Have they filed their papers of intent, already naturalized or listed as aliens?
If they are naturalized, have you sent for these documents?

[quote="VaDeb"]There are civil records available from the LDS church on microfilm for Minturno, Latina, Italy. They are limited though to 1811-1865. If the family members you identified are from here you should be able to find them in the records.

I believe these would be too early. Davide and Pasqualina were both born in 1865, so I think I just missed the time frame. Pasqualina emigrated in 1903, as did her son Joseph Tucciarone.

Thanks!

The census does list the immigration year for Pasqualina and Joseph (son) Tucciarone, 1903. Joseph was naturalized, but Pasqualina was not. I have Joseph's military records and death certificate.

How do I go about getting Immigration and Naturalization records?

Thank you

Sue,

If they were born in 1865 they would be in the records. For $3-$4 for a roll of microfilm, you will know if they were born there.

I forgot to mention that Davide, Pasqualina, Joseph and Catherine Rich Tucciarone (Joseph's wife) are all buried at St. Cecelia's Cemetery near Rochester - not St. Anthony's as I had originally thought. They attended St. Anthony's in earlier years with other family members.

I'm hoping to go there to get some photos. Due to finances it won't be any time soon, but my in-laws live in Chambersburg, PA. A priest offered to send me some photos and information, but I never heard back and he didn't reply to later emails.

I'm seeing my grandparents again on the 28th of this month. I'll mention a few names and see if my grandfather remembers any more.

Stopped by the Family History Center near my home last night, and they are closed for 3 months for a remodel. Just my luck. I found some directories for Rochester, PA, that I thought might be helpful too.

I will try ordering through NARA. Is $17 typical? How do you ever afford to get all the records? (That question does not require an answer... <grin>)

I started to fill out the NARA form for immigration records, but it asks for State of Entry, Port of Entry and year. If I can't find the records in Ellis Island, then how can I know they didn't come in through another port? Maybe Boston or Pittsburgh?

Thank you,

I have worked primarily with the Chicago Archives.......I did not have to
provide any immigration info.....but then, I also had been to the federal court house and was given the petition and volume number for my request.

Anyone on the East Coast familiar with this process??

sue1anne wrote:I'm just getting started but running into a lot of roadblocks just in US records. I'm also at a disadvantage that I don't know some names due to lack of info from relatives.

My grandfather is alive and living in Oregon, but doesn't remember much about family since his father died when he was 5 years old, around 1926. I can't seem to locate his father's grave, obituary or Social Security Death Index information. (My grandfather was born in Rochester, PA.)

My great-grandfather was Joseph Tucciarone who I found living in Rochester, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) in the 1920 and 1930 censuses.

I don't know Joseph's father's name, but I believe it may have also been Joseph (Guiseppe). Joseph's mother is listed as Lena (wife of Guiseppe), which I believe to be Pasqualina, as my grandfather's sister was named this, and later changed her name to Anne.

I can't seem to locate any of my direct Tucciarone ancestors in Ellis Island records, but there are many misspellings.

Hi,

As Maria pointed out you have been at this a long time. This board has changed alot since 2 years ago. LEts look at this again. I am posting a 1930 census for PA, Beaver Co, Rochester. Is this your family.
Catherine - wife and widow. I am having trouble equating it to the quote above.

I would like to see the family group on the census. Helps me get a picture and also look at immigration/naturalization information.

Catherine Rich (Ricci) Tucciarone is the widow of Joseph Tucciarone. David, her son, is my grandfather. (The one I mentioned whose father died when he was about 5 years old.)

Just to recap...

Joseph’s father was Davide Tucciarone, mother was Pasqualina LAVALLE/Lavalla (B1865+-).

Davide's (B1863+-) parents are PHILIP Tucciarone and FRANCIS DELANO.
Davide's brother Marciano (Marion) Tucciarone

Joseph Lavalla living in Rochester a few houses from the Tucciarone's was Pasqualina's brother.
--------

Said I would check out the other ports for Tucciarone... and found the name "DELLANNO" included in these records.. but so far this is the best I could do... Maria Carlemagna's manifest was interesting though...
