translating 1893 birth certificate
translating 1893 birth certificate
I am having problems understanding the handwriting on my grandmother's birth certificate. All I have so far is her name Philomena Campolattano born 22 December 1893 in Maddaloni record #830. I can’t decipher her parents’ names or their occupations. I would be very appreciative for any help.
Thank You
Gary

Thank you so much Livio. This information will be great help with my research.
One addition question Livio about the marriage note you posted. How did you know of the marriage? It is correct.I could never find the certificate.Ancestry's search data base stopped at 1910.I only knew of it through her original obituary.
What a great website!

That is very interesting. But I am a little confused. How does the marriage information come about being on a birth certificate?

Re: translating 1893 birth certificate
Usually, in Italy, a marriage note and even a death note is added to the original birth record. Your document is not a certificate, it is a "photograph" of Filomena's birth record!
Re: translating 1893 birth certificate
I did not know that. I have never been able to translate the side note. I guess it will be another area for me to look for more information. Thanks again.liviomoreno wrote:Usually, in Italy, a marriage note and even a death note is added to the original birth record.
