Need Help Deciphering Names of Parents

Post by mdyer »

I'm having trouble making out the parents' names on this death record for Michelangelo Gentile (see web link below). I'm not sure, but the father's name looks like it could be Bernadino. And the mother's name looks like it could be Lucia Lopa. I appreciate help in confirming. Thanks!

I believe that Bernadino is correct but that it's Giulia not Lucia.

Thanks, Biff. I appreciate it!

I have a couple more documents I need help with.

1) This is a death record for Nicola Rico. I'm at a loss for either of his parents names.

2) I can't make out the name of Nicola's wife. This is the link to her death certificate: http://postimage.org/image/md7qnbgnp/ Also, I see that her father's name was Pietro. And that her mother's first name was Laura, but I'm unsure about her mother's maiden name. Any idea?

Second document-Nicola's wife's death.

My best guess--

wife's first name Teresa.

Laura's surrname--Minone

What comune are the records from? I usually check the prevelance of possible surnames on PagineBianche (current Italian white pages) and Ellis Island records; works pretty well.

Thanks, Biff and Livio. I've added the PagineBianche to my favorites - that'll be a handy tool moving forward.

I'm still unsure about the maiden name for Teresa. I'm wondering if it's Sipo. I've seen the name Sisto around (seems more common to the area), but I'm uncertain, it's hard for me to decipher.

Any thoughts on this one?

Both Nicola's and Teresa's death records are not the original records but extracts. Could it be that they are part of a group of documents belonging to "Allegati di pubblicazioni di matrimonio" if this is the case they should be listed in the request for banns, and you will see Teresa's maiden name there...

Just a thought...

You're right, Livio. They're part of a handful of documents I found on microfilm yesterday, which I'm still going through to see what all I have (I jumped on the death records). In reviewing the marriage atto (per your suggestion) it does look like her name is Teresa Visco. What do you think?
