My grandmother and grandfather were born in Ateleta, Abruzzo and emigrated to the USA. I di have information, but I do not have my grandfather's death certificate. I am 99% sure he did not become a naturalized American before he died when my dad was six years old. What information do I need to get an Italian passport? I am American. Where can I find out if my grandfather was naturalized or not?
Thank you,
Nancy

It is not that easy to acquire a passport if you are coming from another country and would just want to get things fixed in an instant. Usually, you have to prove that you have the right to be naturalized and you have gone through extensive things just to be able to do so.
And when everything has been done, you have to choose whether you are going to be naturalized, through a selection process with the foreign affairs department.
