Anche a me sembra Di Nuzzo

Se mi sarà possibile ti aiuterò volentieri.

So you are saying that the record probably says Onofrio Di Genua is the son of Domenico Di Genua and Mariantonia Di Nuzzo, coniugi (spouses) di Casacalenda. So probably Onofrio was not married yet and Domenico and Mariantonia were living in Casacalenda. I wonder why Onofrio would not be living with his parents? Why would he be living in a house apparently owned be Giuseppe Ricciutti? Interesting. If this turns out to be my family then I would have the name of Domenico and his wife Mariantonia Di Nuzzo. You could be absolutely right in the reading of the record Luca, I thought that Mariantonia was the wife of Onofrio and not the mother.

Buon Giorno Luca, yes I know that I am missing some important information. The research for these records was not done by me personally but by someone else. He assures me that the 1624 record is actually from 1624. I enclose a 1700 Stato Delle Anime record with Di Genua that are not my family for comparison.

Qualche considerazione.

Hello Luca, I never noticed the same handwriting on the 2 Anime records but you are right, it is the same hand writing. Those 2 records cannot be 76 years apart. I had questions regarding the 1700 record because the names were very similar to a Di Genua family that was in the 1742 Catasto for Casacalenda. I believe that they are the same family and therefore the 1700 record is much later. This was supposed to have been clarified because I pointed out the similarity to the 1742 Catasto record but it has not been. I enclose the image for the 1742 Catasto record which I obtained fron The Archives in Naples. For this family I had the mother as Virgilia Fonterusso and the husband (who had died by 1742) as Salvatore Di Genua from previous searches through the civil records. If it is the same family then Virgilia Fonterusso could not be dead in 1700 and 47 in 1742. The Catasto for Casacalenda was done in 1742 therefore that record is correct.

I don't know how careful my researcher has been. I have been waiting for these records for a long time but now I am more confused than before. The records that have dates are OK but anything without a date on them I am suspicious of. It's hard to put a family together if the dates supplied are not correct. I'm not sure as to what my approach should at this point.

Thank you very much Luca for your help. It was very much appreciated. It is impossible for me to view the records personally so as you say I have to spend some money to have someone re-check the records in question. The name of Virgilia Fonterusso and the fact the handwriting on those two records is the same leads me to believe there is an error in the dates. As you pointed out there is too much of a discrepancy in the age of Virgilia Fonterusso for the dates to be accurate.

Warm Regards,
Franco
