I am new to this process and was hoping for some direction on my search for my grandfather's family. What I know -
Ferdinand Goth - Born 11/6/1903 in Rome. Died 12/23/1992. Emigrated to the US in 1933 (Immig Visa #750).
Father's name Stephen. Older sister's named Linda and Pia.
If anyone can help me get going I'd really appreciate it!

Re: Just Beginning My Search
Hi, welcome to the forum
Have you noticed that on the second page of the 1933 arrival manfiest for Ferdinando he stated that his nearest relative in Italy was Maria Marangoni ved. (widow) Goth (maybe his mother?) residing in Trevi (Perugia Province - Umbria region)?

From the 1933 arrival manifest for Ferdinando you can also see that he married Emily Mary Mickumas in Rome on 29 may 1932, she travelled to the U.S. on august 1932, from ancesty.com:

Re: Just Beginning My Search
Michael - Thank you for the 1940 Census. That is definitely my family. The Ellis Island listing is not a Goth of whom I am familiar - perhaps a brother or cousin to the line I am following. Ferdinando had only sisters so those remaining in Italy would likely have a married name. I found a reference to I believe a niece, Margherita who married Luciano Fuzzi. Last known address was in Misano Adriatico (Forli). Would you be able to send a white page listing for that name? Many thanks!
Re: Just Beginning My Search
Laura - Thank you for the 2nd page of the manifest for Ferdinand. I had only seen page 1, which had limited information. The maternal name will be very helpful.
It is hard to read on the manifest a marriage location. In a letter I received from my grandfather after I married, he said he and Emily were married in Kaunas, Lithuania by the bishop. If the manifest says Rome, then I have another mystery - maybe a civil ceremony in Rome?
I appreciate the arrival list for Emily that is new information for me.
Thanks for your help!
Toni

Re: Just Beginning My Search
Or maybe a religious ceremony in Rome?
REquest the marraige record from Comune di Roma and it will tell you everything. To get a photocopy might be a problem since they require meoney for that and won't accept cash or anything other than a direct deposit into their account via the post office.
Still a certificate will help, just include some photo ID:

Re: Just Beginning My Search
you need to go see someone in the Jesus Christ of Latter day saints public genealogy library for FREE... they will allow you to find the records for free. YOU DO NOT need to be of that faith. I am not, but I go there to find my relatives. I found most of them. I have about another 29more to go... I have last names, SO i got to know who they are or were. You select this in your city... then go see them, they have ancestry.com so you do not have to pay for it. so go already... check on their hours. I have all the records for Palermo sicily area only... not anyplace else they have the rest..
