help with comune
My father was from Avellino. Is there a way to know or find out what commune?
Re: help with comune
Hey Carryl
,
From the records we found on your other post (especially the related 1907 ship manifest),
http://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/topic26022.html
it appears that the comune may have been Avellino - in the province of Avellino:

You are a virtual plethora of information!!! And the 'in case you aren't familiar with' part in your last response made me laugh..I'm not familiar with much of anything..but I'm trying to learn and you are a GREAT teacher! Thanks again!
Re: help with comune
And thank you to Marty too!!! The records are not for citizenship and I was thinking of trying to research my grandparents (both born in 1880) more than my father. Does it make sense to do that? And then it would be on microfilm, right? I REALLY appreciate ALL of your help!
Re: help with comune
Yes do your research here if its available on film to find your family info at Family History Library

Re: help with comune
Hi Carryld, I have been researching my family from Avellino and surrounding towns, for the past few years. Do all the manifest say they were from Avellino? What year did they come to the US, because after 1907 the manifest has 2 pages and give a lot more information.
While waiting on a copy of your father's birth record, order films from the FHC. I know I returned a few marriage records, because they were unreadable, but the birth records have been ok. Let me know if you need additional help and who knows maybe we have family in common. My family went to Manhattan and Brooklyn.
