Rossi/Mancini/Cuzzone from Pizzone

Post by gsmuffin »

I have Antonio (Athony) Rossi born in Pizzone on June 9th, 1881 and died May 5 1935 near Chicago. In a death record it is stated his parents are Pasquale Rossi and Theresa Di Cristofano. In a written down family tree, I have it as Nick and Marie. The book also says he was 3 siblings named Frank, Nick, and Philomena. I'm assuming they also came here and if they did I would assume they would of went to Chicago with Antonio.

Antonio lived in Chicago Heights, IL. with his wife Bambina Cuzzone. She was born December 15, 1882 in Pizzone. She came here on May 22, 1905 under the name Bambina Cozzone. I have written down her parents are Pasquale and Phyliss, but I have no proof of it. She died in 1960. She had siblings Nick and Annette. I have written down Annette (Tomasine) Cuzzone. I'm assuming that Tomasine is her married name but I do not have a husband for her and I can't seem to find any record of an Annette Tomasine. Anthony arrived before Bambina did.

For Mancini, I have Antonio Mancini(b. abt 1864 d. bef 1910) who married Vincenza(b.4 Jun 1862 d. 8 Dec 1936). A census shows they got married in 1888. Antonio was born in Pizzone, along with his brother Frank(b.abt 1880 d.bef 1920), who Vincenza married after Antonio died. Vincenza wasn't born in Pizzone. She was born in Coslellone, Camp Basso(not sure what place that is). I don't know when they immigrated, their parents, or if they have any siblings(besides Anthony/Frank) On Vincenza's childrens birth certificate she has her name listed as: Maria Vinzenzo, Anna Vincenza Nataldanato, Vincenza Nolartonota, Vincenza Notarsanoto Mancino, Vincenza Lotardinata and Maria Vincinzo. On a board post(from about 2000) it says that her last name could of been DiNatto. They also lived in Chicago Heights.

I'd be glad to trade information and whatnot.

For Anthony, here it says his parents were Pasquale and Theresa. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQ9C-3GM

Other people in the Chicago area with the same parents had Theresa's maiden name as Di Cristofola. I found 4 others with those names.
Philomena (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3W6-FTP)on there it says her husband's name is Dominick. I have in a family book that her husband's name is Dominick Cozzoni, which makes sense. Her kids name were Mary, Pasquale, and Phyliss.
Then there's Frank, https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3WP-ZQX I don't have his spouse's name written down but, his kids were Annie, Florence, Nick, and Teresa.
There's Nick, https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3WB-VF5 It says him and his parents were born in Pizzone, where Anthony was also born. Nick's children were Carmella, Frank, and Patrick.
But then there's Lucia, which makes me doubt myself. I don't have a Lucia written down for one of Anthony's siblings. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N3ZH-5FB I can connect Lucia, Nick, Phyliss, and Frank all together with those death records, but can't connect Anthony to them.

IF your sure he is from Pizzone
Have you tried Family History Libarary for Registri dello stato civile di Pizzone (Campobasso), 1810-1899 Births, deaths, marriages, banns, marriage documents, miscellaneous documents, citizenships. With indexes
I think to verify Antonio's Rossi parents info from Pizzone with his birth act might even have his parents marriage record. With one film which has on it Nati 1866-1899 Notificazioni 1866-1899 Matrimoni 1866-1899 Morti 1866-1880 FILM #1448592

My father's sister's husband was Frank Joseph Rossi (1913-2000), fourth child and first son of Nicola Rossi (1877-1937) and his wife, Antonia Gallo Rossi (1877-1956). I believe I've found passenger lists that show he immigrated from Pizzone through Ellis Island in March, 1910 and that Antonia and daughters Maria, Carmela and Assunta followed in November, 1910. They lived in Chicago. I scanned of some photographs in a scrapbook prepared by the wife of Nick Rossi, second of Frank's three sons. I also have scanned copies of Antonia's passport, Frank's birth certificate and his baptism certificate from the scrapbook. I'd be happy to share details of what I know about Nicola and Antonia and their family. Would also like to know more about their families. My personal e-mail address is padan4th@comcast.net. Can send copies of photos and documents as desired...
