Hello Janine,

If you could confirm the name of your Grandparents, we could look for a boat record... and take it from there... if you know your Grandmother's maiden name, please let us know.
.........

Am hoping that this 1930 census record shows the correct family.

Dear Janine,

I'm from Philadelphia. :) Also, I have a very dear friend in Stamford. Betty is such a sweetheart.

While you are in Stamford, try to get the Death Certificate of Caterina. You never know what kind of information could be on it. I would also try to get the Marriage Certificate of Caterina and Vincenzo while you are there.
If you wait till you get home, I'll give you the information how to get records from Stamford. They are so friendly and helpful there.:)

Any way, I'll dig up whatever I can and please have fun and enjoy your family and also send my congrats to the parents of Baby Luke.

Smile for me!:)

James born Jan, 1, 1881 according to the records of WWI registrations. His wife is listed in 1917 as "Helena"...maybe she went by more then one name? Also check out a Domenico...also in Stamford, CT. Looks like he was head of household and living with him is an Angelo Lecerenza with his wife Anna. Angelo is listed as the father of Domenic and is age 85 in the 1930 census. Anna is 80. These could be the parents of James as the names tend to be similar in Domenick's family to those in Jame's family.

Jame's name in Italian could be Giacomo. However, the name Vincenzo is often translated as James as well.

Maybe you can locate the cemetery where these people were buried. Might find something in the cemetery records. Try and find an obituary for James or his wife...this could lead to more info. A death record may tell you exactly where he was born and the name of his parents.

James indicated he was naturalized in 1912. Find this paperwork along with the paperwork filed before the naturalization: Declaration of Intent and Petition to Naturalize. These should give you a lot of specific information.

Good Luck.

Hi Again, It's me Janine
You all.. are so wounderful, helping me and my family as much as you all have..Thank you so so much.
Today, my daughter Michele , brother Bill and his two children and my Mother Theresa Lacerenza (Maslowski) all travled to Norwalk, CT. to See my sister Christine and her husband Jack and my brother Frankie for a family gathering it was great, except it started to rain buckets for hours and inside we stayed. Renee and Matt stayed home with Baby Lucas.
I will tell Renee all this great news tomorrow, she is trying to get a family tree for all of us.

Tomorrow we will head to Naugatuck. Ct to see, sister Cathy husband Joe and their children. Then back to Renees, to see baby and than Christines.

Tuesday, I will try to go to the Goverment Center in Stamford to get these records, that makes a lot of sence. If I cannot get there for some reason I will let you know so you can help me on how to get Records when I am back in PA.
WE will be heading back to PA. wednesday morning.
You are so great!

Ok...all you young guys with good vision....

Check out 1910 census of Fairfield, Stamford, Conn, 3rd Ward, Roll 130, book 2...ED 114, page 8A and 8B.

Looks like a variation of the name but spelled Lazerenz in the index...

Name is Jimmie, age 30, married at 20, arrived 1896 (hard to read)
Katie, age 25, married at 16, had 5 children, 5 children living, arrived 189?
Toney, age 6 born Conn.
Annie (???) age 5
next page looks like
Marie(???) age?
Bridget,
Charley...
Michael...father, age
Annie...mother
Dom?????
M?????
?????, sister-in-law

Need HELP to read...but this could be MICHELANGELO...the Angelo in the 1920 census and that would make him the father of Jimmy......

Also found this...not sure if date fits....Castle Garden Records

VITO-VZO. LACERENZA Occupation Laborer
Age 17
Sex M
Literacy U
Arrived 1897-04-28
Origin Italy
Port Naples
Last Residence U
Destination SAUFORD-CT
Plan Unknown
Ship Victoria
Passage Unknown

other children on board: Maria Luisa, age 2, Margherita, age 6, Domenico, age 8, Maria Giovanna, age 15......

Could this be the right family?????? If anyone can read that census entry better...please give it a try....can't seem to find anything in 1900 as of yet that is even close.........

Looks like a good find Essgee, but it is very hard to read. I will post the pages here for others to look at. Too late to read it tonight. I will try and enhance and see if I can get anything tomorrow.

On the passenger list mentioned above, Vito Vincenzo is #17, the others are ##18, #19, #20, and #21, all with surname Lacerenza. However, passenger # 16 is an Anna Pace...age 35. Is this the Annie listed in the 1910 census married to Angelo?

Debbie.......

Your posted version is a lot clearer then what I was reading.... Looks like the name is not Michele...but just plain Angelo! And the name under Domenic appears to be Lucia! I am beginning to think that the arrival record matches this census info. This is exciting...could mean that Anna Pace is the great grandmother......another surname to help locate where in Italy they come from....

Thanks for posting the census...

Susan
