(line #222 - 5th from bottom)

the first file is the index. Tommaso's last name is spelled Mingolelli.
the second file is the death record in which the last name is spelled Mincolelli.
i have seen this on a number of records for individuals with this last name. however, the spelling difference doesn't begin to show up until 1851.

I am curious as to your thoughts about what accounts for the differences in the spelling of the last name in the index and on the record.

thanks,
donna

An index is often prepared by a different person so they could have read the name wrong. The act should be taken as correct. The pronunciation is almost the same for both spellings.
