Dimambro - From Monte Cassino

Post by jojokidd »

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this so you might need to bear with me :)

Myself and my husband are coming to Italy for the first time in September and I wondered if any of my Grandad's relatives were still living there. My Grandad came from Monte Cassino, his name was Vincent Dimambro, his parents were called Salavatore and Antonia. When his family moved from Italy they lived in Durham and then Luton.

Does this sound fimilar to any one?

Many thanks

Hello, My Capaldi family came from San Michele, Cassino and i am pretty certain the Di Mambro's were from the same village, as they all called it Monte Cassino/Cassino!

There was a couple of Di Mambro's that came to Bristol and spent some time in Durham too!

That sounds like my great grandfather.

Do you know where Vincent put down roots when he came over?

I know of his sons Vincent and Robert.

Just stumbled on this site so I thought I'd check it out.

Hi,
hi this story is very familiar but I need a little more information. I have an uncle whose name has the Dimambro name. My Grandfathers name was Andrea and Salvatore was his brother. Antonia was Salvatore's wife. My question is are you positive that Salvatores last name was Dimambro and did Vincent have brothers Victor, Earnest, Savare or similar names,

hi all I am new on this site but was drawn by the name DiMambro as that is my surname, we are trying to help my father in law trace his family tree back to Italy. Mario DiMambo is the son of Joseph, and grandson to Vincenso, and great grandson toGiovani, we have been to Cassino and visited the old home which is in ruin, and were wondering how we trace the current owners of the property....and also to possibly.find family. Mario DiMambro currently lives in Durham and his brother Gerrard in Newcastle. Thank you :0)

My Great Grandfathers name was Vincenzo Dimambro his
Mother and father was Frances and Maria, they were from Italy to Bristol in early 1900's he had 5 other brothers and sisters.
Frances was a banana merchant, is there any more information out there? I know they lived in st James Barton.

Hi,
This thread is rather old now, but I hope someone is still watching this. If so, I am interested in discovering more about the Bristol Dimambro family in the 20th century to support some research I am carrying out in the city.

Hi all,

Appreciate this is years old. My grandparents were Vincent Dimambro and Louisa Dimambro née Latte of the Bristol Dimambros.

Happy to answer whatever questions I can and also keen to hear any information anyone else may have.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm doing my family tree and I've discovered that a great, great grandmother of mine was named Maria Di Mambro. One of her sons was named Alessio Salveti - born in Gloucestershire. They went on to move to Lyon. Originally they were from Cassino. Does anyone here relate to these people?

Thanks,
Antonella
