Luccio/Scavetta

Post by MEMELELE »

Looking for info on Rosé (Rosina) Luccio who married Lawrence Scavetta in Italy (near Pietra Patti?). They had 5 children. Mary, James, Peter, Tessie, and Dora (Donata). Lawrence passed away around 1900's. Rose married Salvatore DiStefano. They all came to the U.s. but I don't know when. I've seen some census' from 1920 and 30, but they do not offer much info.
Any help would be great. Thanks.. Lisa

Hi Marty,

They settled first on Mulberry street, NYC then Brooklyn, NY I cannot find out any info on Lawrence I think because he passed away. My grandmother had told me he died right around when she was born, which would be 12/1905.

Wow, Marty.......you are a MASTER! I would have never seen that since it was so far on the bottom. I think this is my Scavetta/Luccio connection. Even though Luccio is spelled Lucchi. I've seen other Census with Rosé Luccio Scavetta DiStefano, but again the Census you found is definitely helpful. Thanks so much for your help! Kind regards, Lisa

Marty, I can't thank you enough! I would have never found this record. In fact I would not even know where to begin. Another point, I cannot translate Italian, so your information was invaluable. This will help delve further into my ancestry tree. I'm a newbie, so it's going to take some time! It CAN get confusing after a while. Kindest regards for your help.

Marty, yes it could be possible that they were married in the U.S. I could never get much info from my grandmother (one of her daughters), since she didn't remember her father because of his early death. I can maybe check archives of Brooklyn newspaper. My sister did find a copy of death record for Salvatore DiStefano. (I cannot upload it for some reason.

Here is the text

DeStefano, Salvatore suddenly July 5, 1932. Beloved husband of Rose, brother of Rocco and Rose Aldala. Father of John and Dominick Albanese, Louise Oresky, James Scavetta, Peter Scavetta, Mary Marasco, Dora Scaglione and the late Theresa Basile., and nine grandchildren. My sister and I were both confused because of John and Dominick Albanese (why is their last name different)? And Louise Oretsky? The rest is my grandmother (Dora) and her brothers and sisters. This is all very confusing.
