Luongo from Sant'Angelo a Fasanella

Post by CMLuongo8 »

I've been trying to fill out my family tree and I hit a dead end with my great-grandfather's generation. My great-grandfather, Donatangelo (Donato) Luongo was born on 3/10/1888, came to America in 1905, and lived in Philadelphia. He was married to Innocenza Godio. His brothers, Gabriel (8/8/1896), Michael Arcangelo (7/26/1891), Guiseppe, and Jennaro came to the US between 1905-1912. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Hi,

don't know if you already have Donatangelo's arrival manifest, lastname was badly transcripted on the site Ellisisland.org:

3 july 1905

Luongo Donatangelo, age 16, male, single, from Sant'Angelo to Philadelphia to join his uncle Leopoldo Faccenda? living on 611 Washington Street, Phila.

From the arrival manifest for Donatangelo's brothers you can see their father's name:

10 june 1913

Luongo Francesco age 23 male, single and Luongo Gabriele, age 16 male single, from Sant'Angelo a Fasanella to Philadelphia to meet their brother Donato living on Filbert street. Nearest relative in Italy was their father Vitantonio

The 1909 Arrival manfiest for Michele Luongo shows a different father's first name:

19 february 1909

Luongo Michele, age 17, male, single, place of birth and last residence in Italy Sant'Angelo a Fasanella, nearest relative in Italy his father Nicolantonio, going to Philadelphia to join his brother Donatangelo living on 611 Washington Street.

page 2:

considering that the first male son born to Donatangelo and Innocenza was named Nicholas I believe that the correct name of Donatangelo's father was Nicolantonio :D

Hi, I am in the same position, only my grandfather was born in Sant'ANgelo Fasanella and came to AMerica in early 1900's. His name was Joseph Rizzo, born in 1892 I believe. I can find no info on my grandmother, maiden name DeStio, Rose. Where would I be able to find church or birth records for that town, do you know? I do not speak Italian! If I can be of any help, I could check records in Phila next time I go there. Anne

There is a DeSito family in NY. Father is Gabriele. Mother Jennie. But father's mother's is named Rose. Do you think your Rose might be a child of his? Or related in some way to that family. They came from the same town.

Hi- just joined this forum today and found your post. I am related to Gabriele and Jennie De Stio. They are my paternal great grandparents, so we are related. Gabriele's mother's name is Rosie DeStio (she lived with them for a while in NY). They also have a daughter Rose, born in 1896- your grandmother? I have done lots of research on this side of my family- but have also hit a wall with Jennie's side of the family (Loia is her maiden name). I would love to connect with you- compare research etc. It does seem that the next step would be to write the municipality of Sant Angelo Fasanella for records though.
hope to talk to you soon-
Nicole DeStio
