I am looking for Pasquale Desimone who possibly was born and died in Agnone, Prov. Campobasso, Italy around 1848.

I have the birth certificate of my great grandfather Carmine DeSimone, which I photocopied this summer when I visited the Commune in Agnone. Carmine was born 8 Apr 1888, and on the birth certificate his father is listed as Pasquale DeSimone, age 40. (Making Pasquale's birthday around 1848. Unfortunately we couldn't find him.) Carmine's mother, Maria Vincenza Marcovecchio, was born and died in Agnone. (B: 19 Sept 1859, D: 12 Aug 1920).

Does anyone have any info on Pasquale? Does anyone with research on towns nearby Agnone have a Pasquale DeSimone who was born around 1848?

Thanks for the info. I have actually ordered the microfilm from my local FHL here near Akron. I will go through it as closely as I can.

A man at the comune in Agnone helped me for an entire day (minus his 3-hour Italian pranzo). I appreciated his help so much. I photocopied what I could.

To be honest, I don't remember why we couldn't find Pasquale. I know we searched 1848 birth year, but I also know we got sidetracked with 1869, which someone had written next to his name on some other document. So I don't remember whether we looked at 1847 and 1849 for a birth certificate.

I am excited to look at the microfilm. I understand that this is the kind of thing I can look for, right? Birth certificates and such from various years, correct?

You are lucky!! You should be able to view...

Births, deaths, marriages, banns, marriage documents, miscellaneous documents, citizenships.

Citizenships? I've never seen documents for those... sounds exciting!

When you do receive your film... first thing you do is make a copy of every index first.. (if they have them on film).... time goes by fast...

And while you are waiting for the film to come in... now's a good time get samples of Italian vital records from the internet...

I've seen documents where a name was placed next to someone else's birth record... with a sidenote saying "this person eventually married....so and so..." which is such a bonus when reviewing these records.

Yes... your film is also sorted out differently than mine was... you've got a reel of just births.. 1866 to 1883... which is great!

For sure! I wasn't prepared at all... I had no idea that the vital documents from my town were so damaged (smoke, fire and water)... learning to read the script was one thing... and to read the text was another... and with that kind of a challenge... it was a great learning experience...

My Great Grandfather's house - which he left to my Grandmother... (which she left to my aunt...) My Great Grandfathers traveled to Canada and the USA for work in the early 1900's, only one never made it back... money made here was used to rebuild homes there... (Abruzzi)

I don`t know if you wanted to obtain a birth record of Pasquale, born 1848

If so, you would not find it in the comune Agnone.

Any birth record BEFORE 1865 will be in the Archives of the Province where the birth took place

I don`t know if you knew that or not, trying to help
