It should be Rosina's birth act, even though husband's name doesn't match; it states she married in Sant'Agata

Her father Giacomo was 46, so, this MIGHT be his birth act:

At the end of the registers for every year, you will find indexes.
So, you might want to look at indexes for the years suitable for their siblings, looking for their birth acts, too.

He was the son of unknown parents, so maybe he was later recognized, or took on a new surname when he went to USA.

Thank you PippoM,for the birth record of Giacomo Franchina, and noting that when my grandfather was born that he was 46. I missed that info. I will follow up on his birth record from 1837. Does it note what community he was born in?

If I understand what you mean (I apologise for my English), he was born in Galati Mamertino on January 14th, 1836, son of Rosario, 30 years, peasant, and Carmela Drago, 22 years.
You should check years around 1836 to be sure this is the right one.

Grazie, your English is superb. Please forgive my inability to communicate in Italian. My Grandmother's (Rosina Franchina) oldest sibling was Marianna Franchina, born in Galati Mamertino, Sept. 5th, 1866. On her birth record it notes that her father was Giacoma Franchina son of Carmelo. And her mother was Paola Sutera. But I'm not surethat, that is what the Italian script sates. If it is so, then the birth record of Giacomo Franchina that you past on to me is not that of my Grandmother's father. I have found that there are many common names in the small community of Galati Mamertino. I use the website of FamilySearch.org to find these records online. The files are good but have many missing years. I am new to this quest, but enjoy the research. Warm regards

I sent a reply, but it seems to have got lost. Yes these are the same records that I found yesterday, of the correct Giacomo.I will be off line for two weeks being that I'll be at a Franchina/DeLuca reunion in Bellevue, Ohio.

I heard, but do not know if it is true, that in the past, record offices in Sicily of either the comune or district kept logs on families and their members. What do you know about this?

Summited on the wheel at the Grande Ospedale Cicico Di Messina. On his birth record, I can not translate the script of Qualita, forma, e colori della vesti.
