Looking for Siblings of Antonio Balsofiore of Forio d'Ischia
I'm trying to find out information about the siblings of Antonio Balsofiore. I would also like to find birth or marriage dates for him and his wife, Rosa Cigliano, as well, since I don't have that information. So far, I've found out about these children: Aniello (1887 to 1967), Virginia Assunta (born in 1890), Francesco (born in 1891), Filippo (born in 1896), Maria Celeste (born in 1898), and Mariagiuseppa (born in 1901). His father's name was Carlo Balsofiore. I don't know the mother. Her father's name was Francesco Cigliano. I don't know the mother.I would really like to find out if Antonio Balsofiore had a brother named Aniello and who his wife was. I've been coming across records for his children and his father was also named Carlo. One of the children was born on February 2, 1910. Maybe he's a younger brother? I haven't seen that name in my search of records, so it makes me think they might be the same family. Thank you for your time.

I think you can find all the documents of your interest here:
https://familysearch.org/search/image/i ... Fwaypoints
There seem to be no ten-years indexes for marriages, so you'll have to go through all marriage registers to find Aniello's. Such registers are usually indexed, and indexes are usually in the last pages.

Although you need to join (40 euros/year I believe), "La Grande Famille de Procida e Ischia" is a non-profit organization that has indexed and digitized most of the parish records in the 6 comuni on the island of Ischia (Ischia, Serrara-Fontana, Barano d'Ischia, Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola & Forio) as well as parish and civil records for the island of Procida.
I have roots in Forio, Barano & Ischia, and have made many discoveries using the site for its indexes and then finding the corresponding civil records on FamilySearch.
Forio records are very complete, contain many annotations and are very well preserved. Here is a link to "La Grande Famille" if you would like to check it out.

Thank you so much for all this information! Would it be possible for someone to translate these documents? I can figure out a few things from them, but miss alot too, since I don't really read Italian.

Thank you! Is the birth record for Carlo Balsofiore available? He was born abt 1827 or 1828. I didn't see those years. Maybe I'm missing something. Or would his marriage record be available?

They married 1862. Looking at this record Carlo was aged 34 (born 1828 approx as you said).
You are correct, there are some birth years missing on line including years 1823-1830. You may be able to write to the town for his birth record? Someone might help you with a letter and an address.

The left column is the "marriage promise" dated 28 Nov 1862
The right column indicates that the actual marriage was celebrated in the S. Vito Parish on December 8.
Groom: Carlo Balzofiore, single, born in Forio, aged 34, blacksmith, son of deceased Antonio and of Maria di Maio.
Bride: Maria Iacono, single, born in Forio, aged 23, daughter of Giuseppe (a carpenter) and of Angela Maria Lamonica.

There are birth records for the years 1823-1830, but they are included in the "Diversi" atti on the FamilySearch site. You may have to search page by page however, as a quick glance showed missing indexes. If you do not find him there, he may have been born in another town on the island.AngelaGrace56 wrote:siskojnash wrote:

Just FYI, San Vito is the mother church in Forio. (The other major parish when it comes to historical records is San Sebastiano). San Vito has parish records from the late 1500's.
The Balsofiore/Balzofiore families are historically "San Vito" families.

I think you are right. I didn't even think to look here – normally (my understanding) Diversi would include birth records of still-born, abandoned children, adoptions and other matters.
